Do i need to uppgrade graphic card from 8 to 16 vram ?
Hello,
As many of you probably already know, there are major VRAM issues with the AI features in Lightroom, especially when using AI masking. The VRAM gets completely saturated and never properly frees up afterward.
I’ve personally been dealing with this for three or four years now, and honestly, it’s making my life miserable. It’s seriously affecting my work. I do everything I can to keep things running properly: all drivers are up to date, I rebuild catalogs regularly, etc. But this is a problem I’ve been investigating for years at this point, and it’s becoming unbearable.
So here’s my question:
Right now, I have an NVIDIA RTX 4060 with 8GB of VRAM. Would it actually be worth upgrading to an AMD RX 9060 with 16GB of VRAM? Or am I still going to experience the exact same issues?
I’m asking because I already upgraded my GPU two years ago, going from 4GB to 8GB VRAM, and in the end the problem basically stayed the same. I’m even seeing people with 24GB cards reporting similar issues.
So in your opinion, is upgrading the GPU actually worth it, or am I just wasting my time and this is ultimately something Adobe needs to fix — even though they’ve apparently had no interest in fixing it for the last three or four years?
Thanks in advance for any feedback or shared experiences.
