Ive just come back to Lightroom ater years away, yeah I maybe mad, but so far so good, just one thing, my documents folder in my Macbooks storage has now got 213gb, is this correct? it all seems to be photos, is this normal or have I done something wrong?

Many thanks

Photos just don't appear by themselves in that folder ... or any folder ... so it must be correct, it is what you the user requested somehow (perhaps unknowingly).

Check in Lightroom Classic and see if it thinks the photos in the catalog are in the Documents folder.

Thanks for that, yes LRC does think they are all there, I have imported all my photos from Apple photos but I didn't want to do that, I just want photos from last year onwards (new camera and time to travel) any ideas if there is an easy way to delete 6000+ photo I dont want in LRC?

thanks

Select them (for example click on the first one you don't want, shift-click on the last one). Or use the LrC filter bar to filter by date and so just the years you DONT want are showing, Ctrl-A to select all of these.

Then press delete, you will have the choice of remove from catalog, or delete from hard disk. That's up to you.
