Hi,

I just got a new Nikon D3500 and i have Lightroom 6.14 installed. Lightroom won't read my raw files. Any other ways?

I'm not looking to convert to dng files.

There is any way to update or upgrade forward without a monthly subscriptions? Even if there is a one time fee?

Thanks

Without upgrading it's DNG or use your Nikon software to save as TIFF. Then import the TIFFs into Lightroom.

Why don't you want to convert to DNG?

I know if i want use the files in the future for serious project, RAW files are required. I think that there is no much loss of data from RAW to DNG, but the fact to have files converted, add an extra step and now keep both files is just bit annoying. I was hoping to be able to shoot RAW and opening files right in Lightroom. But i know my Nikon camera is only a entry level one. Thank you for answering my questions.

Incorrect. There is no quality loss from RAW to DNG. Not a pixel changes.

No. This camera model was first supported in Lightroom Classic cc 8.1, / Adobe Camera Raw 11.1

See the link below

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

LR 6.14 will never be updated so alternatives are

1. Upgrade to Lightroom Classic subscription application or

2. Use the latest Abobe DNG converter v 11.2 to convert the raw files to dng format, then import the dng files into LR  6.14.

So based on your criteria the simple answer is No.
