Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs.

"DirectX: NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 (30.0.14.7404)"

You're facing two issues:

1. You've got a 7-year-old graphics processor with just 2 GB of VRAM (video memory), which is the minimum required of what Adobe recommends for People masking. Others with 2 GB of VRAM have reported problems with People masks.

2. The installed graphics driver is 6 months old.  Nvidia no longer fixes driver bugs for the GT 710, but they do have a more recent driver from 12/20/2022:

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/197601/en-us/

That version was released to fix some security issues, so it likely won't help your issue. But it's worth a try.

Unfortunately, LR's AI masking doesn't obey the setting of Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor and it will try to use the GPU even when that setting is off. Adobe stubbornly refuses to provide an option to disable the use of the GPU for AI masking:

https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-ideas/p-ai-masking-should-obey-preferences-gt-performance-gt-use-graphics-processor/idi-p/12480845

As a result, people like you with older hardware won't be able to use AI masking.

It's a weird decision by Adobe -- be sure to vote for that feature request by clicking the Upvote button in the upper-left.

Same problem. The AI masking feature in Lrc does not work as well as the subject feature. I keep getting an error message. But it still works in Lr?  All I did was upgrade my account to include Lrc and photoshop.  Not sure how to fix this??
