Downloading Presets

Hi there... hope someone can help. I have LR Classic version 10.4 and have presets in LRTemplate format i want to download. I followed several you tube video - preferences / develop presets / user presets etc but they still do not load / convert to XMP... any idea how to solve this issue..what am i doing wrong ? thanks

Open a photo in Develop. In the Presets panel, click the + button and select Import Presets:

 

Navigate to the .lrtemplate file you want to import. (Note that the menu command File > Import Develop Profiles And Presets is buggy and won't import .lrtemplate files.)

 

If that doesn't work, please describe in more detail what you're seeing or not seeing at each step.

i get the error the preset file was the wrong type of preset

That indicates the .lrtemplate file is not a develop preset but rather a brush preset or some other type of preset.  Open the .lrtemplate file in Notepad and copy/paste its contents into your reply here, and we can double-check its type and then provide precise instructions for importing it.
