Question

Dull colors on Lightroom Classic when importing with a Sony A7rIV Camera

Hi,

When i import my raw photos to Lightroom Classic, they look really dull comparing to the out of cam jpeg. I tried many things but i've never found anything satisfying.
By default, i use adobe color as profil. I tried all other profils. The camera matching ones are really yellowish.

Is there anything i can do ? I work with really colorfull photos so it's important for me.

There is an example, a photo taken on jpeg + Raw with my camera.
The first one is the jpeg Out of cam, the second is the raw with adobe color profil, and the last one is the raw with camera matching standard profil.

Thank you for your help.

There's a large difference between Jpeg_out_of_cam.JPG and Camera_matching_standard.jpg. LR / Camera Raw usually does a better job at approximating cameras' various picture styles ("approximating" being the operative word).

To do a thorough comparison, upload the original .arw to Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar and post the sharing link here.

Your samples confirm the quite noticeable difference between the raw with the Camera Standard profile and the out-of-the-camera JPEG.  Exiftool confirms they were taken at the same time with the same Picture Profile / Creative Style settings (Standard).

Adobe's camera-matching profiles are often/usually close approximations of the picture settings on the camera, but not in this case.

Rather than someone rewriting what's been written many times in the past. See below linked thread that has the same complaint. Ignore the original image, focus on the explanations as to why the raw and JPEG differ.

Right. This should have been a sticky on top of the page.

I'll just retype one thing from that other thread: camera manufacturers obviously crank up contrast and saturation as much as possible, for one simple reason: that's how they selll cameras.

It's the same underlying raw file. It's not as if Sony has a separate and "better" file to work from.
