Duplicate files seen on import.

I just spent 2 hours with an online support person in a chat window who had full control of my computer but wouldn't listen.  I kept telling him and demonstrating that LR was telling me a brand new file has already been downloaded.   They guy said I have a file with that name already, so that's why it's greyed out.

I just found out as I tried to explain to him on an Adobe web page, that the duplicate file name doesn't matter it the capture date is different, or if the photo was taken with a different camera.

From Adobe: Lightroom Classic determines a photo is a duplicate of another file in the catalog if it has the same, original filename; the same Exif capture date and time; and the same file size. You can instruct Lightroom Classic to disregard duplicate files when importing.

Is anyone else having trouble with downloading new files off of a camera?   Different dates, different catalog items, at least that's how it's always worked in the past.
