Duplicate Images

I recently upgraded my OLD LR CC to LR Classic on my MacBook Pro. Now when I take a photo with my iPhone X and open LR Mobile on my iPad and iPhone I get two images. Both have the same description (IMG_1234.JPG) one is “original” and the other “smart preview”. On both my iPhone and iPad under LR > Cloud Storage & Sync > Only Download Smart Previews, it is turned ON.

When I launch LR Classic on my MacBook Pro and the Sync finishes I get the same two images but now the “original” has a new extension (IMG_1234-7.IMG). Going back to LR Mobile on my iPhone and iPad this new extension appears.

HELP.

Has anyone else had this experience and is there a fix. I don’t want two images of the same photo appearing. When I view this photo in “Photos” on my iPhone or iPad there is only one image.
