When I select edit in Photoshop from Lightroom the image is moved into photoshop but most of the dropdown menus in photoshop are greyed out. (i.e can't be clicked.)

I had already upgraded and I didn't think it did fix it. My thought is that the error is actually in PS, which wasn't updated, but I will check.

Yes, this is a bug in PS. It never affected me because I have disabled the Home screen in PS.

If I enable the Home screen, the bug is activated.

So the workarounds are to disable the Home screen and/or make sure Photoshop is open before sending the file from LR.

I do have a similar problem after updating Lightroom CC Classic (8.2) and Photoshop CC 2019 (20.0.3). Until the latest updates, I could select a photo in Lightroom and left click to edit in Photoshop. Now it would open Photoshop but never load the photo I selected. I have also disabled the home screen and restarted both apps but the result is the same.

It's a known bug (new and will be fixed soon).

In PS close the document, then send the photo again from LR.

Or open PS first, then send a photo from LR.

Bug - Image and Layer options are greyed out if and only if Photoshop CC 2019 is launched from Lightroom CC Classic

It appears the LR 8.1 update released two days ago fixes this issue. Use the Creative Cloud app to update LR to 8.1.

In Photoshop, are you getting any dialogue box which prevents menus to be used? Does the image open?

Can you click any menu item? Is everything greyed out?

Thank you for the reply John. I have solved the problem. If I edit a copy from lightroom all is well. Basically it was me being a silly old codger.
