Edit in Photoshop grayed out in Lightroom

Try as I might, I can't fix this problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop and Lightroom several times, restarted my computer several times and followed the steps in the help page ('Edit In Photoshop' command missing ) several times.

Is there something else I can do?

I'm desperate.

Correct answer Per Berntsen

Edit in Photoshop will be grayed out if

  • The original is on an external drive which is not connected
  • The image is missing (exclamation mark in the top right corner of the thumbnail)
  • You are working with smart previews

Also, if you have renamed the folder outside of LR then it won't know where to find it. Right click on the folder in LR and you'll have an option in there to find the missing folder then follow the prompts to point it to the correct source.
