Edit in Photoshop no longer includes Lightroom adjustments

Hi All,

I have read many Posts on this issue & spoken w Adobe tech support & am hoping perhaps a genius w a solution exists 🙂 to solve this issue. I think it's an ACR Ver. compatibility issue with my Ver of LR. I am for the sake of this Query using RAW Canon R5 files.

The issue is that I am running PS 22.2.0 / ACR 12.3 on Mojave w LR Classic 9.4 / ACR 12.4 (About LR info in app)  and when opening RAW image there is no 'Open w LR Adj.' option, and the image opens with a weird Look (lighter and diff tint etc). If I use PS 21.2.12 to open a RAW file from LR the option 'Open w LR Adjst.' is available and all works well, and I can save file as a tiff or PSD and open in PS 22.2.0 no issue.

It gets a little weirderf I try open a RAW file from within PS.  Using PS 22.2.0,  (it shows on the top bar that it is using ACR 13.4 BTW) the file opens w the same bad rendering as from LR 9.4. Even if I try open as a Smart Object. . Now and however, when opening a RAW using PS 21.2.12 (same ACR Ver 13.4) the image looks OK for a few seconds and then renders wrong and opens exactly as the other bad renderings.

I am very experienced in PS etc (working Pro) but only know a certain amount and this has me flummoxed. The obvious solution is to get a new Mac and upgrade all but until then I hope to maybe fix this. I assume it is an issue with the ACR compatibility w PS 22.2.0. What is really strange is the LR 9.4 (thank goodness) does allow a correct translation to PS 21.2.0. I can as a better Workaround (after reading many Posts here) jsut export a tiff directly from LR 9 w adjustments but it's a real hassle to not be able to use Open As Smart Object in PS 22 etc.  The only other info I have to share is that when opening a RAW directly from either Ver of PS as a Smart Object, there is some sort of Profile warning message of a triangle with an exclamation mark and the Profile type is 'Matrix'. That seemed weird. I also do not know how to see what version of ACR that PS is using besides looking at top status bar upon opening a RAW file.

Perhaps someone knows how to fix this w/o re-installing PS (Adobe recommended fix) but I have too many plugins to deal with that.

Thanks for your time, and forgive any omissions you require to help solve this issue.

Regards,

J
