editing photos in external program does not work anymore for new imported photos

I imported a new series of photos and can not edit them in an external programm anymore (PS, Topaz, Nik collection).  This is only for the new serie I imported not for previous imported pictures.  I have the latest versions of LR and PS and work on Mac. Can somebody please help.  Thank you.
