Editing with masks in Lightroom 14.5.1

When attempting simple editing in LR using masks the selected areas of the mask automatically become underexposed by 0.7 stops and the tone curve reflects this underexposure.  This was being done using the people mask and idenifying the skin portions.  When the mask is prodcued these areas appear black on the screen before doing anything.

There is a checkbox to reset all sliders when you create a new mask. Make sure that box is checked.

Thank you Johan, I have always had this auto reset checked but somewhere along the line it became unchecked.  I appreciate your help, thank you. atgilmore

Try first resetting the preferences of Lightroom Classic:  How to reset Lightroom Classic preferences (adobe.com)

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:
