Question

Everytime I open Photoshop and Lightroom it crashes. This is ridiculous. Any ideas to fix it??

I'm beginning to wish I didn't have lightroom and photoshop. I'm having big problems with trying to work in them and I'm a professional photographer with clients. Whenever I open Lightroom and Photoshop they crash and want to send a report.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Cameron

I have had a problem recently with Lightroom CC crashing as well. It doesn't give me enough time to change my preferences to not use GPU. The Message I get is "Lightroom encountered an error from it's preview cache and needs to quit" then it shuts down. I have tried uninstalling Lightroom, and reinstalling it but I get the same response.

This is a different problem, and has nothing to do with the GPU.

Your Library previews have become corrupted, and you have to delete them. Lightroom will recreate them as you browse the Library.

Using File Explorer/Finder, go to the folder that contains your catalog, usually a folder named Lightroom inside the Pictures folder. Delete the folder (may display as a file on Mac) whose name ends with Previews.lrdata. Do not delete anything else.

Now launch Lightroom. If this keeps happening, your hard drive may be failing.

Please share with us your system information as Lightroom Classic reports it. In Lightroom click on Help, click on System Information, click on Copy. Paste into a reply

Try turning off the option in the LR preference to use the GPU. Set that to off and test. You can also do that in PS and Test.

If no crashes then there is something in LR and PS that does not like your graphic card and or the drive for it. Update the GPU driver and test.

You have some type of hardware problem. I know that may be hard to believe but there is no other explanation.

What exactly crashes, Shuts Down? The computer restarts or LR and or PS or both close and or stop responding?

I, and many many others, do not have the problem you are having.

    Please give your systemn specs.

I can use an earlier version of lightroom but not the current version.
