Exif help

I need help!!!! Some time ago, my hard drive died on me… (I know, I should’ve done a backup—don’t rub it in)… of course, I had all my RAW files on there… Luckily, I managed to recover most of the JPGs from previews using a script, but they don’t have any EXIF data.

Today I realized that even though the metadata isn’t present in the JPG files themselves, I can see it in Lightroom… I really need that data to be embedded in the JPGs. I tried using a program to extract and inject the metadata into the files, but it didn’t work…

But if I can see the data in Lightroom, that means it has to be stored somewhere, right? Can someone help me? I’ve asked ChatGPT, my son who knows Python, some saints, and burned through all my patience… can you give me a hand?

Are you using Lightroom (Lr icon) or Lightroom Classic (LrC icon)? What is the version NUMBER? (We need the version NUMBER and not words like "lastest")

If Lightroom Classic, the metadata is stored in the LrC Catalog file. To embed the metadata in the JPG, please take a look at the plugin named Syncomatic. This assumes (as far as I know) that the file names are the same except one ends with .JPG and one ends with .NEF (or whatever your RAW files end with)

I cannot see your (or anyone's) file attachments. Please include screen captures in your reply by using the "Insert Photos" icon.

I'm not sure what you used to do this find, or why you are trying to find catalog files. Your original message seemed to imply that you can open the catalog and see the metadata for the RAW images, which means you have the catalog file, no need to search for it. So I am confused.
