Export multiple folders from exiting catalog on a full HD to create a new catalog on a new HD

I've run out of space on my hdd with my main catalog so I'm trying to export out certain folders into a new catalog onto a new external HDD without losing the edits on those images from the original catalog. 

How do I do this?

Exporting is not needed. You can copy the catalog file (using your operating system) to a new HD and then double-click on it to open it. If you need to move the photos as well, you can follow the directions in "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location" in this document: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm, please keep the folder hierarchy unchanged when you do this.
