External drive : "Lightroom encountered an error needs to quit"

I am using an external SSD and Windows 11. Whenever my laptop's screen turns off after some minutes of inactivity (no sleep mode, but this also happens after sleep and waking up) Lightroom Classic prompts "Lightroom encountered an error and needs to quit". 

 

After restarting the catalog everything is fine. How do I avoid this error? 

I do not wish to edit screen time out or sleep settings. 

The Removal policy of my SanDisk Extreme SSD is set to "Better performance" instead of "Quick removal".

    is any sync to the cloud occurring when that laptop goes to sleep?

    A search on t.he Internet (Google) will show you:

     

    "To prevent your laptop from going to sleep while using Lightroom Classic, you can access the Lightroom Classic preferences and find the "Sync with Lightroom" settings, where you can usually toggle an option to "Prevent System Sleep During Sync" - this will keep your computer awake while syncing images with other Lightroom applications. "

    Alright, thanks. I'm not using the sync function, so lightroom won't be syncing any photos..

    Just to clarify, are your photos and the catalog all stored in the SSD, or is the app installed there? Could you share your System Info as well? You can find it in Lightroom Classic under Help > System Info. Just copy the info to a text file and attach it to your response.

    Hi Aleke, thanks for your reply.

    The photos and the catalog are stored on the SSD, Lightroom is installed on the pc.

    I've made a new catalog, same happens as well.

    Hi @SandPixel! Does your external SSD also break connection outside of Lightroom when idle? I wonder if it could be possible that your external SSD is going to sleep mode when it's inactive for some time. Can you double-check that the drivers for your SSD are fully updated? That might help.

    Another thing we could try is adjusting the power settings on your computer. You can go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options, then select "Change plan settings" for the plan you have selected. After that, choose "Change advanced power settings" and modify the value in the "Turn off hard disk after" setting. This might do the trick.
