File transfers via NAS using LRC v13.0.1 (Win11) is 100x slower than previous releases!

As a test, try temporarily turning Windows Defender off completely. (When troubleshooting non-obvious problems, suspect everyone.)

So, not my normal workflow, but what the heck I can try out to learn or just to see what may be going wrong.

In my case A DiskStation 1821+.  Computer, and NAS connected to switches and one another on 10GP LAN (well this part of it) And a Test catalog I keep for such things on a SSD in my PC. Attempted to Add in Import 18 Fuji X-T5 RAW (RAF) images. Minimum Previews, No Presets. The Computer, the NAS, all my Switches, have been checked for and/or updated in the past few days (so I know no driver/firmware, issues)

Import took seconds.

Current work around workflow understood

Issue is currently Importing from NAS too slow, Something in LrC kaput. And as to indicate not an issue with odd bits such as Face Detection, Address Lookup, Cloud Sync, if you import from SSD, It is Ok performance wise.

Now, just too make sure,. In the past, when you imported photos that are on your NAS, You used the Add option in the LrC Import, correct?

Clarification:  When I said "ordinarily, I import from camera to NAS" I ommitted the crucial detail that I do it through LRC's Import feature.

Correct summary.  LR doesn't support catalogs over the network, so they're on a local drive, even though the photos are usually on the NAS.  Ordinarily, I import from camera to NAS, but with the current state of performance so unusably slow, I have to import to the SSD now too until this bug is fixed.  I had a portrait shoot mof my youngest daughter the other day (gorgeous thumbnail above), and shot a few hundred frames then tried to import to NAS like usual when I hit this bug for the first time.  The Windows explorer transfer was just to show that the PC, network, and NAS are clearly not the problem here...

Ok, I am confused. Read that several time, maybe I need less Coffee.

Some take aways

• Your catalog is on a local hard drive connected to your computer.
• Your Photos are on your NAS
• You used Windows Files Explorer to Copy Photos from your hard drive to your NAS
• You used LrC, in the Folders Panel to Move Photos from your NAS to your Hard Drive.

Some questions

• When you first Import your Photos, where to you place them? What is the destination?
• Maybe the above question helps answer this. Why are you copying Photos from the hard drive to the NAS if yo keep your Photos on the NAS?
• Why are you Moving Photos from LrC to the NAS? Are they not already on the NAS??
