files cannot be opened by Lightroom

For awhile I've owned and imported images from my SONY A7Rii.  Yet, after recently purchasing a SONY RX100 VII.  When I tried importing some images, my Lightroom 6.14 recognizes the cabled camera (or the card in a reader), and begins the import process.  But afterwards I get "files cannot be opened by Lightroom."
