Reporting this as a bug. This is also noted on this discussion thread: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/an-internal-error-has-occurred-invalid-path-error-while-finding-raw-folders-on-a-nas/m-p/13624232

Issue: When moving from Windows to Mac AND photo folders are located on a SMB network share (not mounted share), unable to use "Find missing folder...". Error displays "Internal Error has occured. invalid path"

Steps to reproduce:

  1. On Windows machine, open or create a new Catalog
  2. Import photos that are on an SMB share (ex: \\192.168.1.252\BackupPath\Images)
  3. Confirm photos are successfully imported
  4. Backup Catalog
  5. Copy Catalog backup from Windows machine to Mac machine
  6. On Mac machine, open backup catalog
  7. Observe that images are missing AND folder does not display exepected image count
  8. Right-click on folder and select Find Missing Folder...
  9. Navigate to photo folder on SMB share on Mac machine and click Choose
  10.  Note error displays: Internal Error has occurred, invalid path

Expected result: Folder properly maps to SMB share

Actual result: Folder fails to map and error displays

Work-around:

  1. Prior to moving catalog from Windows machine, map SMB share as a network drive (example is Z: \\192.168.1.252\BackupPath\Images)
  2. In the Lightroom catalog, use Update Folder Location... and point the folder to the mapped network drive
  3. Validate images are still present
  4. Backup catalog and copy to Mac machine
  5. Open catalog on Mac machine
  6. Image folder will still report as missing
  7. Use the Find Missing Folder... function to point to the SMB share on Mac
  8. This time it properly finds folder and images

This is not a bug - moving to discussions.
You need to map your drive differently on the Windows side. See this thread: https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-discussions/an-internal-error-has-occurred-invalid-path-error-while-finding-raw-folders-on-a-nas/m-p/14248721/page/3

Then is the bug that Lightroom is allowing me to have my media on a SMB share instead of requiring a mapped network drive?
