Question

First import in 15.0.1 yields blank pictures that can't be removed.

Windows 11, upgraded to 15.0.1 today.  First import of 91 pictures yielded 16 sequential photos in the middle of my import plus the last 2 that are blank.  They are now stuck in a state where they don't exist on disk and I can't remove them from Lightroom.   In develop mode, if I right click on the photos in the filmstrip and select "Remove Photo" nothing happens.  Clicking on an image in the filmstrip and then right clicking on the image just brings up a pop-up for what the background color should be.

I now have 18 photos that I can't get rid of.

Copying the original raw files to a different directory and importing them worked fine, as did an import of addition photos.

Greetings,

After conferring with the Classic Engineering team, they would like to obtain a copy of your catalog. If you are agreeable to sharing your .lrcat file for the catalog that is showing the 'ghost images', post a copy to a sharing service (Dropbox or similar) and then share the link with me and I will get it to the team.

Thanks

Stopping and restarting Lightroom without doing a backup made no difference.  However, stopping Lightroom and attempting a backup yielded a message about the catalog failing an integrity check and it exiting without making a backup.  Restart of Lightroom wanted to repair the catalog but previous experience has taught me not to trust this.  Had to punt to the previous days backup.
