Folder tree not showing

After moving my 2 external drives to a new computer with all my photos and catalogue the folder tree does not show in the Import pane until I press 'Import'. When I try to import all the images are greyed out, meaning they are already in the catalogue.  I did manage to import some, before I started to get the grey out. Have I done something wrong? I am desperate for help.
