Question

GoPro GPR convert to DNG on import

A wish for LRC. Convert GoPro GPR (raw) files directly to Adobe dng on import.  I can do it in an extra step. Would be nice if import from a GoPro raw file worked the same as from a Nimon raw file.

Some confusing detail about this issue (not a justification, just explanation):

The command Library >  Convert Photo To DNG will convert non-raws (e.g. JPEGs) and raws to DNG format.  But Import's Copy As DNG only converts raws, and there's no option to control that.  Presumably Copy As DNG excludes non-raws because Adobe thinks most users wouldn't want their JPEGs and TIFFs converted to DNG.

But isn't Gopro's GPR a raw format?  Depends on what the meaning of "raw" is, and Adobe is not consistent on that score.  In some places in LR and Adobe documentation, "raw" means the proprietary manufacturer camera formats (.nef, .cr3, .arw, etc.), and it excludes DNG.  In other places, "raw" includes DNGs that include mosaic or linear pixel data.

GPR is an extension to DNG, so it appears that Import considers "raw" to mean manufacturer proprietary camera formats, excluding DNG.

Yes. Thanks for confirming. That is why I posted as a "wish" for the
techies to fix it.

Followup

Managed to download a sample GPR file, and yep, Copy as DNG is offered, but upon import, LrC tells you it did not convert to DNG, but it did copy the file as GPR.

So a limitation in conversion.

I set copy as DNG.  I get a message that "non-raw files not converted". I then run the manual convert to dng and it works. I am using a GoPro Hero 10 Black.

Are you stating that in the LrC import screen, you cannot select Copy as DNG for import type when the source is GPR files?

And what particular camera?
