Grey Video Thumbnails in Lightroom Classic (Win10)

Hello.

Running newly formatted Windows 10, Lightroom 13.1, GFX 1660

I have been cleaning my family archive of photos. I ended up deleting the lrpreviews file and generating new previews. I mix my photo and video files and folders are filed under year/month/date

Image previews generate fine, but some video files are grey boxes, they still play the file when double-click to view. Some other video files generate files and even duplicated files ( hence cleaning) can have successful thumbnails.

I have also found that when "Buiding Standard previews" Lightroom will stop and stall at some of these grey video files. The video files would have come from many sources mainly Android phones, Canon 5d2, 5d3, 5d4.

( again, there's a mix of successful/grey thumbnails are the same file type, (Andriod mp4, Canon 5d3 mov, etc, shot on the same day and same setting, some have generated thumbnails and some remain grey),.

The previous version of Lightroom ( can't remember which) generated video thumbnails without a problem. I was using a mac, about 4 years ago and now using a newly formatted Win 10 machine. (Maybe I am missing some video decoders? Running Apple Quicktime and Windows 10- Codec Pack)

Any help would be awesome.

Issues with videos often show up in the community. Not a video user, so I may not be the person to assist. HOWEVER

However, consider creating a separate folder for your videos, move (in LrC Folders Panel) your videos, then you can treat them separately

Alternatively, you could create a collection, place the photos in the collection, but not the videos. then create the previews for the photos in the collection.

Yes, those are workarounds not solutions.
