Guided Upright Does Not Work with Leica DNG files

I am using Lr Classic v 14.2. on a Mac running Sequoia 15.3.1.  I am editing a Leica M11 DNG file. When I select the Guided Upright icon in the top left of the Transform panel, four guides automatically appear along each side of the image (top, bottom, left, and right). I am not presented with the ability to place the crosshairs on the image and create my own guide before these four are created. When I do try to place a guide, I receive a message that only four guides are allowed.

This does not occur with Sony files converted to DNG. The tool works correctly on those files.

I suspected something like that, but I wasn't sure because I don't have any Leica cameras.

Somehow this image already contains the guides. I can't tell you why, but that shouldn't be a major problem. You can select a guide and delete it (press the delete key), or select a guide and change it. You can also reset the Transform panel (hold down the Option key).

Johan, thank you for your reply. After additional research, I've determined that Leica's Perspective Control feature, available in several of their bodies, writes data to the DNG file even if the feature is turned off in the camera. This feature attempts to correct distortion in camera. When the file is brought into Lr, and the Guided Upright or Guided function is invoked, this is the result - the four guides surrounding the image. Right-clicking one of the guides and Resetting them removes them and allows the user to use the Lr tool as intended.
