Having your LRC catalog on an external hard drive and moving between a MAC and PC envirment.

How/can you use an external hard drive for your catalog and go from PC to MAC importing on both and not corrupt your catalog? I’ve been having problems since PC is letter drives (C, F, G ...) and MAC uses volume names (/Volumes/drivename/)

    You’re not corrupting your catalog, but as MacOS and Windows use a different way of referring to drives (disk names versus drive letters) the paths to the images in the catalog need to be updated when you switch. That is not a big deal and there is a way to avoid it (no idea if that video mentions this): place the images in a folder (subfolders are permitted) inside your catalog folder. Lightroom will use a ‘relative link’ to the images that starts with the catalog folder as root, so the drive letters/disk name is no longer an issue.
