Hello,

I am trying to figure out the best storage and backup solution to keep my photos safe and off my computer harddrive. I currently have a time machine/airport and am curious how others are backing up thier photos and keeping thier computers free of RAW files. I would ideally like to store/ backup my photos on an external harddrive and also to a cloud service.  Looking forward to hearing your set ups!

My photos never go on the system hard disk (the C: drive) of my computer. They come out of the camera and are placed directly on my second hard disk (the D drive) — this is done via the Lightroom Import command. I have a backup program on my computer that automatically, every night, makes backups of my catalog file and backups of new photos; these backups are stored on an external HD. I also use the cloud backup service known as Carbonite, which runs in the background and automatically makes backups of any new files that it finds. In addition, the Lightroom built-in catalog backup feature makes backups of the catalog file regularly (once a week) to my external HD.
