HDR merge

I have been trying to select 3 different images to create a hdr merged image but after selecting the three images with varying exposure levels, and selecting hdr, I keep recieving this message. How can I bypass this error? Thank you!!

You are trying to merge three jpg photos (or at least one of them is jpg: the active photo) without metadata with information about the exposure. HDR merge is designed to work with raw files (not jpg) and needs this info to calculate the resulting HDR.
