HELP! Errors in Lightroom recent update.

I am in a desperate panic feeling like I am about to lose all of my current work and edits in recent catalogs over this recent LR update! It has messed up the catalogs that I have currently been working on by:

  • not allowing me to export photos
  • freezing up and saying "Application not responding"
  • showing the exclamation point in the top right of a photo, indicating that it can't find the file

It has also started affecting my hard drive by slowing it down and showing an error code-36 (I work on a Mac desktop & laptop) on some RAW images when I try backing up onto another hard drive.

I have hit a wall and I have no idea what to do or how to fix this. I have reached out to some friends who have also been having major troubles since this most recent LR update. Thankfully I am not at risk of losing any images, as they are already saved elsewhere. I am just trying to recover/fix my catalogs so I don't have to start over and solve this issue so it doesn't happen to older catalogs I open.

Can anyone help shed light on a possible solution?

First, make sure you have recent backups of your catalog file and all photos on a different disk than the working catalog and working photos are stored.

This doesn't sound to me like something Lightroom Classic caused, this sounds to me like your hard disk is failing, or Finder is having a problem. https://www.macobserver.com/tips/how-to/fix-mac-error-code-36/
