HELP - Need to move 19k pictures in lightroom without losing database

Hi all,

im trying to help my father with an issue. He has been unknowingly importing all his pictures in the default imac pictures folder. Now he has run out of diskspace ofcourse and i need to move his ca. 1T of pictures to his drobo.

I have made a new folder on his drobo and moved one catalog to it with about 193 pictures. But it has moved the whole 980GB. Ofcourse now all the other catalogs cant find the pictures. There are about 19000 files in the folder so to manually link them one by one is almost impossible.

What are possible solutions in this situation?

Kind regards

You should not move the catalog to the Drobo, only the images. By default the catalog is a folder called 'Lightroom', containing the catalog file (.lrcat extension) and the previews (.lrdata). That folder is also located in your Pictures folder. Leave it there. After you moved the images to the Drobo, use the links mentioned by Axel to 'reconnect' them.
