History Panel not updating when roundtripping from LR to PS and back

I am using currently updated desktop LR Classic and PS via a standard creative cloud account. I am using a 2015 MacBook Pro with Current software.

When I round trip from LR to PS and back to LR a statement appears in the LR History Panel - example: “Edited in Adobe Photoshop (4/8/19 6:08:56 PM”.  If I happen to later go back to PS a second time and round trip back to LR Classic i do not get a new or revised edit statement and time in the LR History Panel. Similarly, if I go from LR to PS and while editing in PS perform a “file/save” before finishing and then later when I do finish and round trip back into LR the edit statement in the history panel is not updated to the final save time.  Only the first save date and time appears in the LR history panel.

Is it normal that LR neither updates nor adds a new (second) “edited in Adobe PS........” statement into the LR history panel?  I realize that LR doesn’t know what I did outside of LR (ie, the edits made in PS) but it ought to record the event by either adding a new statement or updating the date/time stamp on the first statement.  Is there a setting or something I need to change to make this happen? 

If if this is not a function present within in LR, I think it is an item that Adobe should consider addressing.

    Thanks to all for the replies. I was hoping to hear from someone at Adobe who could say - yes or no, what I am seeing is what Adobe intends and if yes, that this is just a limitation of LR.

    That said, I’d still like to see either a separate date/time stamp or at least an updated one in the case where I go from LR to PS, make edits, go back to LR and close the file - then sometime later, open the file in LR (just because that is where I start from 99% of the time) go straight to PS, make more edits, save the file, and go back to LR.  Note that this scenario does not include any editing in LR between the two excursions to PS (each followed up by a simple “save”). I guess I may be in the minority wishing that the date/time stamp would be updated.

    And, I think this has been asked before by someone, why do you want to see this in the history panel of the LR Develop module.

    That date in the develop module history is when the file was created and and or imported into the LR catalog.

    Not sure you answered that question, if it had been asked.

    Sure. From one of my earlier posts:

    call it additional verification that my edits have made it back into LR from PS. “Also, at times I want this because I might edit an image in PS a second time, close the file out and go back to the image a day or two later to see if I like the revised changes. If those second edits aren’t major and I go back a day or two later I can be left wondering - did I really edit that a second time or was it a different image, am I dreaming, etc? Furthermore, it just seems logically complete to me to see a new date/time stamp rather than being stuck just seeing an original date and time.”

    I guess this may not matter to some people. Maybe I’m being too.........

    Sorry to hear about the history panel not updating in Lightroom, could you please let us know the exact version of Lightroom & operating system you're working on?

    Does it happen with a specific file or all files?
    What image format are you working on?

    Have you tried resetting the preferences of Lightroom and see if it helps?

    Mojave 10.14.4

    Lightroom Classic CC 8.2.1. Camera Raw 11.2.1

    Photoshop CC 20.0.4

    It doesn't seem to be file specific.

    I have not not tried resetting preferences.

    I reset LR preferences. I then edited an image by roundtripping from LR to PS and back to LR.  The image had originally been edited 3/2/19 8:29:49. I saved the newly edited (in PS for the second time) image and sent it back to LR. When I open LR and pull the newly edited image up in the Develop module of LR and look at the History Panel - 1) there is no new “edited in Adobe Photoshop....“ entry for today and 2) the previous entry still reads “edited in photoshop 3/2/19 8:29:49“ - the date/time stamp has not been updated.

    So resetting preferences did did not fix anything.
