Question

How can I export/print test strips that are not scaled?

I have a large image I am planning to print (it's about 40" x 40").

I want to print out small test strips (~ 2" x 10") cropped from within the photo to compare different color settings, sharpness, etc.

I'm able to create a custom print template in LR, but whenever I add the images to the template, LR scales them down to fit the template. I don't want them to be scaled so I can see exactly how the details will look when printed at full resolution.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

Make some virtual copies and crop these to fit the test strips.

Thanks. Sorry if I'm being dumb here, but if I make the crops in LR, how do I print them without them being scaled at any point in the process? LR only lets you pick an aspect ratio when cropping. I.e. I can't figure out a way to crop them according to specific pixel dimensions.

My thoughts- Make you Virtual Copies that you crop any way you like- Edit each VC individually with Color settings you want, etc.  (I used Exposure)

Then in the Print Module layout a Contact Sheet to your desires, and print to your (one) paper, with your wanted options. You can set the PPI for the paper size you are using to get an idea of pixel 'sharpness', but this applies to the whole page to print.
