Question

how do I export a high resolution gallery to adobe cloud that includes the photo's captions?

I recently returned from a trip to Denali. I edited my photos, some of which required me to do extensive cropping. I’ve also added descriptions into the photos’ “Caption” box so people can read the narrative of my trip.

Using LrC’s “Web” feature, I exported them as a gallery, hoping I could post them in my Dropbox account and send my friends the link to the Index. However, I learned that Dropbox does not allow this. Nor will Dropbox show the photos’ information in the “Caption” box so that people looking at the images there can follow the story.

I researched my options and exported the LrC Collection to lightroom.adobe.com. Unfortunately, several of the images that I had cropped extensively showed up on lightroom.adobe.com with terrible resolution. This is not an acceptable alternative.

I guess I could find some cheap website that will let me upload the files generated by LrC’s Web feature there. But it just seems to me that I am not the first one that has encountered this issue and surely Adobe must have some way for me to accomplish this.

I appreciate any suggestions you may have.

ps - is there a way to edit the title to this question - it does not show what I want to ask.

The blurry ones on lightroom.adobe.com aren't your fault. When Classic syncs a collection it doesn't upload your originals, only a Smart Preview of the whole uncropped frame, 2560 pixels on the long side. Your crop is cut out of that, so a photo cropped to a third of its width ends up around 850 pixels wide.

Your Web gallery already does what you want, it just needs a host that serves web pages, which Dropbox doesn't. Netlify Drop is free: drag the gallery's export folder (the one with index.html in it) onto app.netlify.com/drop and you get a link to send. Make a free account so the site stays up.

Full disclosure, I build Lightroom Classic plugins, and one of them publishes a collection to a Google Photos album with each photo's Caption under it, if your friends would rather browse there. It’s a one-time purchase, and the Netlify route costs nothing.

Addendum:  You can also look at products like Zenfolio and/or Smugmug.

Here’s a URL from LR’s “Make Public” or “Share” tool.  In the Loupe view the Title is below the images.  Click the info button to see the comments and other data.  https://lightroom.adobe.com/shares/5d84557c78a54e1a90494ba06e3be142

My entire website is built on the Zenfolio platform which you can see here (when i upload images to ZF from LrC, I limit them to 1000 pixels on the long edge but you don’t need to do this).

Lrc’s “Make Public” and LR's “Share” will create a web page who’s URL you can share.  If you are having pixilation problems due to agressive cropping, there are methods to have your full size cropped original saved in LR/Cloud rather than a Smart Preview but if you don’t have enough pixels after cropping then other than using Super Resolution to quadruple the pixel count there is not much else you can do.

If your cropped image has 1,000 pixels and you are presenting it in a window with room for 10,000 pixels, depending on the app doing being used, the image will either be tiny in the window or it will expand it to fill the space and you’ll have horrible pixelation.
