Question

How do I get Lightroom 6 to start importing my pictures? What updates do I need?

I bought Lightroom 6.0 two years ago but due to it's complexity and the extensive preparation it takes I got round to installing it only just a week ago on a new desktop computer with Windows 10.

First I have reorganized my pictures (Canon 80D) and now I'd like to start importing them into LR. But this failed several times. I get the message that the raw files are not recognized by Lightroom (failure 220) and I should click 'Check for updates'. When I do that I get the message that 'version control has failed' probably due to one of two causes, both very unlikely.

I've read some pages on this failure but it's not really clear to me how I can fix this problem. Could somebody explain it to me, please? I would be very grateful.

I also found this page Download Photoshop Lightroom  where a lot of LR 6.0 updates for (Windows) computers are listed. Which of these would I neeld to install? All of them, one  by one? Just the last one?

To make it simple

Go to Download Photoshop Lightroom

Click on  >Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 6   about halfway down the page to open the drop down.

Download 6.14 for your OS

Install

Per the following link, for the Canon 80D, you need LR v 6.5:

hmmm, what is the LR 6 version order?

Cameras supported by Camera Raw

Downloads at: Download Photoshop Lightroom

Note that the version order in LR 6 is a bit muddy, the last one may have been v 6.14 , When you are at the above link, notice the order they have placed them in, newest at top.

Now, what version do you have? be exact. to do this, accomplish the following

in LR click on help, click on system information, note version reported. While you are at it in the screen that appeared, click on copy, paste that into your next reply

Hi David,

Thanks so far. I made a printscreen:

It says I have LightRoom-version 6.0 and a few lines below that it says version 6.3.

It says I have LightRoom-version 6.0 and a few lines below that it says version 6.3.

6.0 is the Lightroom version.

6.3 is the version of Windows 8 that you are running. It's listed underneath "Windows 8.1 Business Edition".

So download and install Lightroom 6.14. Don't worry about the versions in between. 6.14 includes those.
