Question

How do I show a layout overlay on my external monitor?

Default shows only on my macbook screen which defeats the whole purpose of having a big screen on set for the director. Adobe phone support said "that is definitely not possible with adobe CC but maybe it will work on LR 4, try asking on the forum" Seriously?

Currently running Lightroom 4, hopefully upgrading to 5 or CC if I can make this work, otherwise I know CaptureOne can but I'd rather stick with lightroom.

Can anyone help me? Literally the one of the most basic things that studio photographers need every day so I'd like to assume there's a way.

Paul

I'm talking about the layout overlay specifically. Everything else works as it should but the layout overlay only overlays on the tiny loupe display on my macbook screen which is pretty stupid for all practical purposes unless I'm working on an airplane or something lol

I see what you mean now. I'm not sure why the Loupe view on the Secondary Display isn't showing the Layout Overlay.

Would it be acceptable to set the Mac to Mirror Displays so that what is seen on the external monitor is exactly the same as on the MacBook monitor?

Eh it's usable just not very clean/professional, may just need Capture One for this one.

It sounds like you have a second monitor attached to the MacBook, right? If you aren't already aware of how to open a second window in Lightroom, choose Window > Secondary Display. When the second window opens, drag it to the other monitor. You can set what you want to show on the Secondary Display, either using the controls on it or choosing a command from the View > Secondary Display submenu.

Maybe I'm missing something here -- but if you have 2 monitors (laptop monitor and big screen) you can drag windows to the other monitor.
