How to compare one photo with two different presets?

I like to use presets on photos and was wondering if there was a way to comapre two different preset looks on one photo? I'd like to set two different presets for one photo and then compare them side-byb-side to see what preset I like better.

Would I need to create two vortual copied of a photo and then set the preset one each and use the Compare View icon X|Y to compare the two photos?

I'd use virtual copies as it is the cleanest way to accomplish this but there is an other way that takes fewer clicks. Go to develop. Turn on before/after view. Apply preset 1 and move this to the before view (the arrow left icon in the toolbar). Apply preset 2. You'll now have a quick comparison view between the two presets withoout making a virtual copy.

FYI- You may be interested to know of a Plugin that can automatically create Virtual Copies of ALL the Presets in a Group (Folder) of Presets.

Then Compare two (or more) selected photo VCs in Survey Mode [N].

A large Group of presets may create many VCs, but not really a problem as they only add some small info to the Catalog and do not create files to consume disk space, and they are easily removed!

The Plugin can also add the Preset Name to the VC that is produced.
