Question

how to handle recently synced photos when I restore catalog from a backup

My LR Classic catalog got totally messed up during a recent sync where I had to rebuild the sync data partway through. I've given up trying to find all the missing files and going back to a time machine backup of catalog and photo files made prior to last week's mess.

Question is, going forward, how do I handle the synced files? After I synced this week, I moved 3K of recently added files from my laptop to my local storage, but since I'll now be using a restored catalog and photo files that predate the sync, they will no longer be in my catalog. How can I make sure that I get the ORIGINALS of those 3K photos when I sync? I won't replace/delete them when I do the restore, so I know I will be able to find them if needed.

Do you mean those 3K images were not imported yet in the catalog you backed up and are going to use now? Or do you mean they were moved after that last backup. If they were moved after the last backup, then they will still be in the catalog, but shown as missing. Reconnect them and everything should be fine. The local location has no influence on the sync status:
