Question

How to make Mac and Windows recognise the same external drive in Lightroom.

I have just purchased a MacBook to use on the go alongside my home-based Windows system for editing in Lightroom. I have figured out how to share a catalogue between the 2 systems (catalogue on an external drive seems to work fine), however, I have an issue with recognition of the image location on the Mac. The external drive contains both the images and the catalogue and works fine on the Windows system. When I plug the external drive into the MacBook, the catalogue shows that there are supposed to be images on the external drive (it shows the image details and smart previews) but cannot locate the actual images. The external drive is called Drive I on the Windows machine and the catalogue on the Mac is showing the smart previews in the I drive but not the images. When I use the "find missing folder" option on the Mac and navigate to the external drive it finds the images but the external drive is called Samsung SSD. If I point the Mac to that folder instead, I have the same issue in reverse when I go back to Windows. I hope this makes sense, any help is greatly appreciated!!
