How to move a subject mask in LRC 14.2?

Hey everybody,

So ive got a lot of photos of people standing in the same position but they shift slightly between photos since i was adjusting my stance a bit. I want to edit one photo and also apply a subject-mask and copy all that to the next of the same people and just move the mask a tiny bit over, but i cannot move the mask!

I see the mask "pin" (the little people icon) but cannot click it and move it over a few millimeters. How do i move the mask around like usual with other masks? Subject masks cannot be moved using the mask's pin?

Re-creating the mask and redoing all its edits each time is not an option as it is too slow and costing too much money.

Thank you for any info or the "must be super obvious right in front of me" setting to allow it to move.

It works like Ian says, and the reason is that for an AI mask, the app doesn't want to assume the subject is exactly the same from frame to frame, whether that's a sky outline or a person who might have moved their arm slightly. So AI masks can't be moved because that's often not the best way to adapt to another frame; instead they are recomputed to fit whatever the new subject contours are, which is much more accurate.

Normally, the mask should automatically regenerate in the correct position. If it doesn't, then use 'Update AI Settings' to force mask regeneration.

Hey, @mRfung1. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll help you figure this out.

The local adjustment masks (Brush, Radial, and linear Gradient) can be moved using the mask anchor points. This does not apply to generated masks if you use Object, Subject, Sky, or background masks, as they're computed based on the image's contents.

Thanks!
