Question

How to restore classic cc Lightroom with an earlier catalog

my photo storage pc failed a few weeks ago. After i replace it, my lightroom catalog messed up. I tried to restore my LR with an earlier catalog but LR does not allow me saying access failed. I simply unzip an earlier date backup and double click the unzip file to launch LR. I remember this works a few years ago but may be they change it recently. Anyone did something similar lately?

Before restoring an older catalog backup - what exactly is messed up with your most current catalog.

Are there any messages or what exactly does/does not work?

What is the version of LR you are using and what is your OS?

Hi McLion thnx for taking the time to understand my issue.

i am using LR Classic CC 7.0.1 release on a 64 bit Window 10 pc.

The messup happens in two area. First, file contains photo of individual day move up the hierachy to the year level, which usually on a higher level where day files are of its sub file.

Second, when I try to map the missing photo (?) to the new location, the day file on the catalog disappear. ( The actual file still there if I look it up on Windows file manager and in proper hierarchy. )

Show us screen captures to illustrate the situation. Show us the Folder panel in Lightroom. Show us the similar view as seen by Windows Explorer.
