Question

Hundreds of preview files moved to garbage

A weird new behavior bagan recently after rebuilding a laptop. I process Lightroom images on a Windows 11 desktop but the laptop is on the same network/logon. But since rebuilding the laptop I get this behavior:

While working in Lightroom on the desktop computer, Lightroom is purging preview files and placing them in the Windows Recyle bin, but in the laptop's garbage, not the workstation's. Furthermore, I can't explain the numbers. This morning, for example, I worked on roughly a dozen images on the workstation, but then had 139 preview images in the laptop's garbage.

I've been using Lightroom heavily for five years but I do not understand this sudden new behavior. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for insights.

Lightroom v. 14.1.1

Windows 11 (current with updates)

Expected result:  purge preview files "every 30 days"

"...after rebuilding a laptop. "

Perhaps Onedrive, Google Drive, or similar is syncing the catalog folder one one or both computers to the cloud?  The default now for setting up a Windows account is to sync the user folder with the cloud.
