I have to cancel subscription... what happens to my library?

I was diagnosed with early-stage dementia, and I’m having a difficult time understanding what I need to do to preserve my Lightroom catalogs, collections, and photographs before I cancel my subscription.

I’ve contacted Adobe several times asking if there was any discounted plan available, similar to a student plan, but was told there wasn’t one.

I’m hoping someone here can explain, in simple terms, what I need to do to make sure I don’t lose the organization I’ve built over many years of photography.

Thank you.

Geo

You do not need to do anything to preserve catalogs, collections or photos. They all remain accessible. If you cancel your subscription, then Lightroom Classic will keep working, except for the Develop module and the Map module.

Synchronization with the LR Cloud (Desktop, Mobile, and Web) will also no longer work. See here for Adobe’s official policy (which Johan accurately stated):

From an personal aging perspective and to remove any future issues over commitments for payment for Cloud Storage etc, I have retained my entire photographic database on an external  5TB USB drive with multiple maintained backup copies. I have a JPG of every photo to make sure that everything is a universally understood file format so it is all available to future generations without the need for specialised viewers.

Lightroom Classic does not use cloud storage, so that’s a non-issue. Your images are already stored locally on your computer.
