Question

I love PS denoise for my bird shots but for some reason it no longer works. I get an "unknown error" message.

I have been using Photoshop Ai denoise since last year when it first appeared in a regular update sometime in late? 2025.  I since have used it to improve hundreds of old raw files going back several years and last I used succesfully on some high iso bird shots in Feb this year.  I tried to fix some noisy shots yesterday July 6, 2026 it gave me the “unknown error” message.  I went back to several raw files that I had previously created enhanced .dng files but I always got the same error message.  Something has changed in the four months since Feb.

I use a 27” Retina 5K iMac, late 2015, running OS Monterey Version 12.7.6.

32 GB memory, AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4 GB.  I have purged the cache, and the scratch discs have plenty of space left.

This is the Lightroom Classic forum. Do you really mean Photoshop? In that case it’s better to repost in the correct forum. If you mean Lightroom Classic, then did you update that recently? There is a known issue with bad AMD Radeon drivers in MacOS. As the next version of MacOS won’t support your computer anyway, it’s unlikely that Apple is going to spend much time correcting that. Search this forum for more info on MacOS and AMD Radeon. There are several threads with specific information about version numbers that work and version numbers that don’t work.
