?I'm trying to update Lightroom 6.0 to 6.7 and get and Update Failed error message. Please help

I have a desktop based version of LR 6.0 and am trying to update it to the latest version of LR so that I can import images from my new Canon whose raw image support is in this version.  I downloaded the new software and then tried to launch the install and got the following message:

The folder that the installer is trying to write to is read-only. You need to check the permissions for that folder and make sure that it has both read and write permissions. If you don't know how to do that you can use your favorite browser to find instructions on the web.
