Question

I tried to open LRC but it said it was allready open. Ive tried all the recommend fixes to no avail. I uninstalled LRC and re installed to no avail

LRC will not load as it says its opened else ware, Ive tried all the usual fixes including uninstalling and re-loading but it still wont work. Now I am at my wits end.

    Hi ​@Walldog,

    Thanks for reaching out. If Lightroom Classic is reporting that the catalog is already open, please check for a leftover catalog lock file first. Reinstalling Lightroom Classic won’t remove this file.
     

    1. Make sure Lightroom Classic is completely closed. Check in Activity Monitor/ Task Manager.

    2. Locate the folder containing your Lightroom catalog (.lrcat).

    3. In that same folder, look for a file with the same catalog name ending in .lrcat.lock.

    4. Delete only the .lrcat.lock file; do not delete the .lrcat catalog.

    5. Launch Lightroom Classic again.
     

    The lock file normally disappears when Lightroom closes properly, but it can remain if Lightroom or the system didn’t shut down properly.
     

    If there is no .lrcat.lock file, or removing it doesn’t resolve the problem, please post a screenshot of the exact message you’re seeing and let us know whether you’re on Windows or macOS. We can take it from there.

    Hi, Thank you for the response, I no longer get the message but my PC crashed when I was typing this E mail so i think its now a pc problem which I will look into.
