Question

I want to consolidate two accounts, but I'm scared to lose my catalog!

Hi, I have a back catalog from a decade or more stored on / in lightroom. I've been paying monthly for Adobe's photo package, but I don't actively use it often.   Meanwhile, I am given access to the full adobe creative cloud through my workplace.

It makes sense to me that I should cease paying fot the monthly photo package when I have creative cloud through another source. But I am quite scared that I could lose my lightroom catalog.  If I stop paying adobe with my old account, is there a danger that I'll lose access to my past work in lightroom?  Is there a way to transfer all of that inforamtion and the catalog to my newer Adobe ID?

Thanks much for any help or guidance.

I assume you mean you are using Lightroom Classic, even though you don't say that.

Catalog files are un-related to your Adobe account or Adobe ID. They exist on your computer, and Adobe has no control over the catalog file. They will open in any legal copy of Lightroom Classic.

Thanks for your response. I'd assumed it was Classic, but I'm actually not quite sure which it is.  (I profess a good deal of ignorance in how this all works.  But I'd really like to understand.). When I open the program, it says Lightroom CC, but I also get a notification that there's an update available in Lightroom Classic.

The computer I used to do all my photo work on is a late 2013 Mac, and so it's been phased out of access to most updates. In the future, I'd like work from a different set up from my laptop, with a moniter. I'm wondering how to bring all that past work and presets with me, to a new setup, and under my newer Adobe ID.

The user ID is irrelevant. Your photos, your work, your catalog file are yours and will work with ANY user ID. Instructions to move to a new computer

Follow the instructions exactly. Do not make up your own steps. Do not skip steps either (except the part about moving from Windows to Mac which doesn't apply to you). This is so important I am going to say it again:
