A CATALOG is a database file that has a .LRCAT file-type suffix. It is a FILE. And in Windows File Explorer you can show files in various ways- Icons, List. Details, etc.

When you place a catalog {.LRCAT} file in the {Desktop} folder it will appear on the computer desktop screen as the icon.

There can be the actual physical file, or possibly a 'Shortcut' icon (marked with a small arrow).

(Note: These are 'File' icons- Not shortcuts to the Lightroom-Classic .EXE App file.)

If you delete an .LRCAT file (which is possibly your situation)- you have deleted the Catalog, and it might only be restored from the Recycle Bin or from a Backup of the catalog.

So find the Catalog.LRCAT file by searching with File Explorer (or the Recycle Bin). If you cannot find it you will need to restore from a backup.

RESTORE A CATALOG FROM BACKUP

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.0, Photoshop 27.0, ACR 18.0, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0 .
