Image does not show in filmstrip or grid view unless clicked

When opening a folder from the catalog the image placeholder appears in the grid view and filmstrip, the number of placeholders agree with the number of images in the folder. However, the image does not appear either in the grid view or filmstrip unless they are clicked on individually.

Lightroom 12.3.

This has only started in the past few weeks.

Thanks in advance for any help.

First thing to try is resetting the Lightroom preferences: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-reset-lightrooms-preferences/

If that does not solve it then the preview cache may be corrupted. Move the '<catalogname> previews.lrdata' folder out of the catalog folder (or trash it) and start Lightroom. Initially you will see no thumbnails at all, but then Lightroom should start rebuilding them one by one.

Sorry the late response but hey thanks for helping out. I tried resetting the preferences but it did not help. Eventually moved the preview.irdata file and it worked fine. Thanks again.

Perhaps your library presets are corrupt and need to be deleted then recreated.
