Lightroom Classic Build [202502071718-3869eef7]

Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5051987)

Import dialog hangs for over 2 minutes before it even lets me browse to a folder. Changing import source folders also takes way too long. Please help.

Hey, @jimazing. Welcome to the Lightroom Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

Please share the system info from Lightroom Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

Where is your Lightroom Classic catalog stored? How many external devices are connected to the machine right now?

Try these variables:

1 - Unplug any mobile devices or External drives.

2 - If your image source is plugged in via a USB extension, try plugging it directly into your machine.

As a quick test, create a new catalog (File menu > Create New Catalog) placed in the Internal drive & import 30-40 images, and check how it goes.

Thanks!

Hi @Sameer K . Thanks for your reply.

System info is attached.

My catalog is on an internal SSD. It's 1Tb with 650 Gb free

I have two external drives attached to the machine. One of them contains the majority of my photos. The other is unrelated to LrC. I tried unplugging them both and restarting LrC. Did not change the slow response.

I just created a new catalog as you requested and started the import process. It was the same behavior. Import dialog to 1:40 to open. After it was open it was a reasonable amount of time to do the actual import, just a few seconds.

Thanks for adding the details; its seems fine. As a basic troubleshooting step, reset Lightroom Classic following the second (manual) method from this article: https://adobe.ly/4czwc5z

If this does not help, try booting the machine in Safe mode with networking and check if Lightroom Classic behaves as expected. Steps from Microsoft here: https://adobe.ly/3EYRFtO

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!
