Question

Import does not work on Macbook M4 Pro

Hi

I can't import any photos in LrC on my Macbook M4 Pro.

When inserting an SD card in the computers slot, LrC recognises it and shows the card in the import window. But no photo previews are shown, so I can't import anything.

I also can't import photos that are already on the harddisc. Again, no previews.

I have no problems importing photos with Lightroom or Photoshop, only with Lightroom Classic.

What do I do wrong?

LrC is Version 14.1.1

The Macbook runs Sequoia 15.2

Thanks for your help!

Over in the right side panel, change the destination, even if you think the current destination setting is correct. That setting would be whatever was used at the previous import, but....

Incidentally, an Import via Add that fails, can be related to the destination in a Import via Copy fail (odd old behaviour). This can be triggered if a destination is changed outside of LrC (rename, move, delete, disconnect), and in the Import via ADD, no helpful error message is shown.

Yes, I know, sounds odd, And in the past, at least the previews are shown, but easily tested/disproved.

Hi GoldingD

Thanks for your reply. But how can a change of the destination help when I have a problem with the source?

The source, the SD card, doesn't show any files while there should be.

Anyway, I changed the destination, but sadly it didn't solve my problem.

What type of files are on the card and from what camera? Could they be a compressed format that Mac doesn't recognise?

Does the camera have more than one card, and you're importing from the wrong card?

Alternatively, can you connect the camera via USB cable?

I have no problems importing on that Mac by either method.
